I found some vintage R.E.M. clips the other day. WOW, did I love this band back in high school.
First, "Shiny Happy People." I think I was afraid to watch this video because it was so unabashedly nerdy. Looking at it now, though, it's kind of intentionally nerdy. Tongue in cheek. Everything from Bill Berry's unibrow to the B-52's girl's swim moves. Gotta love it. I must have listened to this song 30,000 times, back when Out of Time was one of my three cassette tapes.

Then we have a vintage clip of "Radio Free Europe" from Letterman.
And then there's an R.E.M./U2 collaboration, "One." I love Bono's voice, but I've gotta say, Stipe sings the heck out of this. Shows what an evocative singer he can be with such direct lyrics... something you don't hear a lot of in R.E.M.'s stuff (with the notable exception of "Everybody Hurts").
